Robots
There are several robots available for programming in the Orchard School makerspace. For the robots shown below, students use the Tickle app.
BB8
Dash & Dot
Ollie
Finches
Orchard School acquired Finch robots through Birdbrain Technologies' loan program. A grant was written in August 2015 for access to the robots during January and February 2016 in a collaborative project with Jenny Lussier in Connecticut. We each received ten robots on loan and one to keep. Students used Snap to program the Finches.
EdCamp Global Classrooms - January 2016
Through Twitter, organizers of EdCamp Global Classroom discovered Jenny Lussier and my collaborative project. They asked if we would present a one-hour Google Hangout with our students to share information about their robotics experiences.
Since Andy Plemmons had inspired us to write the Finch grant, we asked if he would like to join us in the webinar. Andy blogged about the experience here: http://expectmiraculous.com/2016/01/29/connecting-voices-through-robotics-an-edcamp-global-event/ Jenny also wrote a blog post: http://mrslussier.weebly.com/lmc-blog/edcampglobal16-meet-the-robots |
Midway through our collaborative project, the students presented each other with robot challenges, which were collected in a Flipgrid. Please click on the image below to view the challenges.
These challenges were answered by Orchard School students in our own Flipgrid. Again, please click on the image below to view the robots in action.
